Members of Weirton Moose Lodge 688 held a spaghetti dinner in October to raise proceeds for a Christmas surprise for two of its members. The dinner charged $10 per guest, with first responders invited to attend free of charge. Moose Lodge board member Howard Mellott and his wife, Debbie, organized the event. Administrator Rich Findlay stated he hopes to make this an annual fundraiser. The holiday surprise came during the holiday season, with the members and their grandsons receiving a special visit from Weirton police officers, who attended as guests. Findlay presented the boys with Christmas stockings containing gifts. Joining officers at the party were Findlay and lodge member Scott Douglas.
