The American Legion Post 33 Ladies Auxiliary in Steubenville held its annual Christmas party for local veterans residing in assisted living facilities on Thursday. Auxiliary President Cindy Longwell is pictured with Bob Giammarco, a Navy veteran and former Legion board member. This marked the first year Giammarco attended the event as an honoree, having moved to Country Club Manor within the past year. Longwell, who previously served as a caregiver for Giammarco, noted how special it was to have him in attendance. Officials stated the event has been ongoing for more than 40 years as a way to let local veterans know the community cares for them. Attendees were treated to a luncheon and presented with gift bags containing pajamas, a blanket, puzzle books and other items to enjoy during the Christmas season.
