Retirees to meet in new year

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville City Schools Retirees ended the year 2025 with a luncheon at Pastaio Cucina restaurant in Wintersville.

Those in attendance enjoyed the afternoon, with members signing get-well cards, along with Christmas cards to send.

The retirees’ collection for its Christmas charity concluded and gifts were to be purchased and given out to adults who are in need throughout the area. The first lunch of the new year has been planned for 12:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at 7 Ranges Entertainment, located at the Fort Steuben Mall.

No reservations are needed. Organizers stated those wanting to attend are permitted to just show up and enjoy the event.

Cross Creek Township to meet

WINTERSVILLE — Cross Creek Township Board of Trustees will hold its next regular meeting at 10 a.m. Friday at the township office, located at 1267 Cadiz Road in Wintersville.

A reorganizational meeting will immediately follow, according to officials.

McDonald’s to celebrate 1 in 8 Day

STEUBENVILLE — McDonald’s restaurants will celebrate its current and alumni crew during a special event entitled “1 in 8 Day.”

On Jan. 8, the restaurant will recognize its current and former employees, as one in eight Americans is said to have worked at a McDonald’s during their lifetime.

This will be the first time the 1 in 8 Day is being launched, offering an exclusive double cheeseburger deal for $1.08, according to officials.

New Year’s Eve Bash planned

STEUBENVILLE — Seven Ranges Entertainment, located at the Fort Steuben Mall, is planning a New Year’s Eve Bash from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

An evening of fun, food and entertainment will be held, including an all-night celebration for the entire family.

Music by DJ Mike, games and a signature midnight balloon drop will be part of the event.

Tickets are limited. Officials recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Various packages are available.

A Midnight Madness package will cost $139 plus tax and fees, per person.

This package includes up to six guests for the three hours and your choice of either a private bowling lane or an axe-throwing bay, one appetizer platter and a bottle of champagne.

A Kids VIP Zone package is priced at $49.99 per guest, plus tax and fees.

This package is for those under the age of 21 and begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Holders of the package will receive a four-hour non-redemption arcade card, pizza, chicken tenders, fries and soda, as well as access to the VIP Room and grape juice in which to make a New Year’s toast.

Free books available for preschoolers

Children under the age of 5 can receive a free book every month through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Books will arrive by mail and are addressed to your child, according to organizers.

The program has been made available through the local support of Brooke County Public Libraries, the Wellsburg Elks Lodge, the Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network, Marshall University’s June Harless Center and Brooke County Schools.
