Thanksgiving food drive

Hills Elementary School concluded its annual canned food drive on Friday, collecting approximately 2,100 items, along with seven turkeys and nine pumpkin pies. Officials noted they hope to make Thanksgiving a little extra special for some local families this holiday season. Ashley Turnbull, a fourth-grader and student senate adviser, announced the school will hold a pizza party to celebrate its accomplishment. Lisa Longo-Mayle’s first-grade class was the top collector of the food items and have earned an extra treat when the school holds its party. The items donated will be used to help the school’s food pantry, as well as Bay 6 in Mingo Junction, Trinity Health System’s Tony Teramana Cancer Center and the Friendship Room in Steubenville.
