Scholarships available
STEUBENVILLE — Applications are available for the Lou Holtz Life Improvement Scholarship. The tuition award of $3,750 will be made payable directly to a one- or two-year trade school.
The scholarship is renewable in a second year of schooling, if the student meets eligibility requirements of acceptable grades, attendance and other school standards. The scholarship is open to students who attend schools in the Upper Ohio Valley, including Buckeye Local High School, Edison Local, Indian Creek, Steubenville, Steubenville Catholic Central High School, Toronto, Brooke, Oak Glen, Weir High School and Weirton Madonna.
Applications are available from school guidance counselors or by contacting the Upper Ohio Valley Museum and Learning Center at the Lou Holtz Hall of Fame at (330) 386-5443. The deadline to apply will be April 6.
AI class offered
WEIRTON — A free AI class will be held at the Mary H. Weir Public Library from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 6. Whether you are an entrepreneur, a parent, a student or somebody just trying to figure out what the AI wave really means, this class is for you. Simple, clear, hands-on and powerful, no tech background is needed to attend.
Tunisha Lindsey, founder of Loyal Luxuries and the Lindsey Training Academy, will host the course. Lindsey holds a master of arts in curriculum and instruction and will show participants how AI can save them time, make life easier and help level up for 2026 and beyond. The class is free of charge and open to the public. All ages are welcome to attend. Questions will be answered.
Lions to hold fundraiser for member
WEIRTON — The Weirton Lions Club and the Irish Pub are co-sponsoring a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Lion Linda Howell to assist with medical and travel expenses related to an illness. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the Irish Pub, located at 3025 Main St. in Weirton. A 50/50 drawing will be held, along with a Chinese auction.

Library open for holiday photos
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library will hold its DIY Christmas pictures from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4 in the River Room of the Wellsburg Library.
Participants are asked to bring their own camera or phone. Assistance will be available, if needed. There will be two holiday backdrops to select from, along with props and accessories. Those attending can bring their own props to use for the photo, although no animals are permitted. The activity is on a first-come, first-served basis. For information, call (304) 737-1551.
Library offering weekly Tai Chi
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will offer a weekly Tai Chi class, led by instructor Mike Turrentine, at 11 a.m. every Monday in the library’s River Room.
Tai Chi is a moving meditation in the form of a series of gentle exercises that creates harmony between the mind and body. This is a free, hour-long class. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing. Registration is not required. There will be no class on Dec. 29. For information, call (304) 737-1551.
