Folk dancers to perform

STEUBENVILLE — The Sycamore Folk Dancers will put on a large-scale performance at 7 p.m. Monday at the Sycamore Youth Center. The show, entitled “Alpentanz,” will feature traditional folk dances and music from Germany, Bavaria and Austria.

The group consists of 45 dancers between the ages of 7 and 35, along with a live band. The performance features traditional German costumes, props, instruments, singing and dancing. The show is free of charge and open to the community. No reservations are required.

Walk with a Doc events set

STEUBENVILLE — In the coming weeks, area residents will have the opportunity to take part in Trinity Health System’s Walk with a Doc program, a walking program for anyone interested in taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle. Learn about a current health topic from a health care professional and spend the remaining hour enjoying a healthy walk and fun conversation.

No special gear is required and there are no special rules. The walking groups are safe, fun and free, allowing individuals to get in some steps, learn about health and meet new friends.

Walk with a Doc will be held at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday of every month at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville. The next event is scheduled for Saturday. Nurse practitioner Gina Toth will lead the walk. Those interested in participating can sign up at walkwithadoc.org/registration. Sign the waiver form and enter chapter No. 10452.

The program will be offered in Steubenville at 9 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the YMCA, located at 3151 Johnson Road. The next event is set for Nov. 13 and will be led by Dr. Ameer Khan and Dr. Wajiha Qureshi. To register, visit the website and enter chapter No. 18579.

Auxiliary to hold breakfast

STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville American Legion Post 33 Auxiliary will hold its annual Veterans Breakfast and Bake Sale event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the post, located at 808 N. Fifth St. in Steubenville.

Auxiliary members will serve scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, pancakes and coffee or hot tea for $8.

There will be several desserts available at the bake sale. All veteran members who are paid up to date will receive their breakfast for free, organizers said.

The breakfast is open to the public with proceeds going toward offsetting the cost of the auxiliary’s annual Christmas party for veterans residing in area nursing homes.

Class of ’59 to hold luncheon

STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville High School Class of 1959 held its monthly luncheon on Oct. 8. The class had 16 people in attendance.

Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing and well wishes were extended to Glenda Barger Zombeck and B.J. Moore Fairhurst, whose sister is unwell.

The cake was provided by Fairhurst. Birthday wishes were given to those celebrating in October.

The group discussed the positive Ohio rankings of Steubenville City Schools, along with “the exciting come-from-behind win of the football team.”

The next class luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 12. All are welcome to attend. For reservations, call Eroshevich at (740) 219-2234.

PERI to meet

STEUBENVILLE — PERI members will hold their next meeting at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 12 in the Fiesta Room of Froehlich’s Classic Corner, located at 501 Washington St.

The guest speaker will be Tracy McManamon of One Source Benefits who will discuss 2026 changes to Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, prescription plans and Medicare supplemental plans.

City school retirees to meet

STEUBENVILLE — Those who are a part of the Steubenville City Schools Retirees met for lunch on Oct. 9 at the Farm Restaurant and Pub in Adena. During the get-together, get-well cards were signed for members, as well as sympathy cards for those in need of receiving one.

Those in attendance signed Christmas cards and took up a collection for the a charity Christmas project for needy adults. Contributions will be collected during the next two luncheons. Those not attending a luncheon can send their money to Linda Holub or Becky Bryan.

The next luncheon will take place Nov. 13 at Abdalla’s Tavern and Grill in Stratton.

Brooke Library to show film

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will show the PG-rated film “Bad Guys 2,” at 5 p.m. Nov. 13.

“Bad Guys” are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly-minted lives as “good guys,” when they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do one last job by an all-female squad of criminals.

Follansbee Library to show film

WELLSBURG — The Follansbee Library will show the movie “Amber Alert,” rated PG-13, at noon on Nov. 14. The film follows a ride share that turns into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse as it follows a car fitting the description for an Amber Alert. Attendees are permitted to bring along a lunch. Popcorn and water will be provided.
