WINTERSVILLE — Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sinister Soiree party set for Saturday has been canceled, according to officials.

Cross Creek to meet

WINTERSVILLE — The Cross Creek Township Board of Trustees will meet in special session at 4 p.m. Monday at the township board room, located at 1267 Cadiz Road. On the agenda is to vacate township Road 179 A and a resolution to join Treasury Management.

Boo buckets return to McDonald’s

STEUBENVILLE — McDonald’s restaurants have announced the return of the company’s favorite Halloween tradition — boo buckets. Beginning Tuesday, fans of all ages can receive one of five bucket designs, featuring a green goblin, a black cat, an orange pumpkin, a red zombie or a white ghost. Customers can order any of their favorite McDonald’s Happy Meal options with the Halloween pail, which will replace the box, starting Tuesday. Pails will only be available with Happy Meal orders, officials said.

Storybook yoga at library

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library will hold Storybook yoga for children and caregivers at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the library’s River Room. The class will be led by Taylor Provenzano from Soulshine Yoga. Read, move and breathe during this combined yoga class and storytime event. Participants should bring a mat or towel to join the group in fun movement. Registration is required. Limited spacing is available. Library to show film

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will show the PG-rated film “Lilo and Stitch,” at 5 p.m. Oct. 23. A live-action re-imagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, “Lilo and Stitch” is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family. Soup and sandwich sale set

BRILLIANT — Brilliant United Methodist Church will hold its Election Day Soup and Sandwich Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4. Sales will be held at the church, located at 525 LaBelle St. in Brilliant. Take out options will be available by calling (740) 598-4472.

Church to hold tea party

STEUBENVILLE — The Agape Church Worship Center is planning a Winter Wonderland Tea Party from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the church, located at 1310 Maryland Ave. in Steubenville. Fish Fry Fridays return

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant American Legion has resumed its Friday Fish Frys, which take place every Friday through Nov. 21. There will be a break during the holidays and then the Fish Frys will resume Feb. 6 through April 24, officials stated.

The menu will consist of your choice of Coleman’s fish, chicken planks, shrimp, wing dings or fish nuggets. Any of these items can be purchased as a dinner or smaller portion basket. All dinners come with bread, french fries and coleslaw. Onion rings can be substituted for an additional $1. Other menu items include: French fries, onion rings, hush puppies, mozzarella sticks and hot or mild cheese balls.

The Fish Frys run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays. Orders can be phoned in by calling (740) 598-3515. The legion is located at 210 Market St. in Brilliant. Limited delivery will be available.

Fundraiser honors Krupinski

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Democratic Party held a Night at the Races fundraiser in honor of former Jefferson County commissioner and State Representative Jerry Krupinski on Saturday at Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern in Steubenville.

Krupinski’s son, Scott Krupinski, a former Jefferson County commissioner, attended the event and spoke about his father. Several elected officials currently serving, along with candidates who are running for office, were in attendance. Officials announced the evening’s event was to be the first of what they said will be an annual fundraiser held in Jerry Krupinski’s name in order to serve as a reminder of his lifetime of service to the people of Jefferson County.

Senior center planing trip

WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold a bus trip to see the musical version of “A Christmas Carol” Nov. 29 at the Ohio Star Theater in Amish country. The public is invited to attend. The cost of the trip runs between $105 to $115, according to organizers, who noted the price is dependent upon how many people are interested. The bus will leave the center at 9:30 a.m. and return at 7 p.m.

“A Christmas Carol” will run from Nov. 29 through Dec. 16 at the theater. The new musical retelling of the Charles Dickens’ holiday classic includes a Broadway-style score by Steve Parsons, with lyrics by John Popa, who “breathes new life into this beloved tale.”
