Choir headed to all-state

Students at Steubenville High School will be lending their voices to the Ohio Music Education Association’s All-State Choir during the OMEA Professional Conference in January. The students submitted recorded auditions and were selected to appear with 165 other teenagers throughout Ohio to perform at the Greater Columbus Convention Center Jan. 29-31. The four students chosen will work with composer and music educator Rollo Dilworth, professor and chair of the Music Education and Music Therapy Department at Temple University in Pennsylvania. Steubenville has taken part in the event every year, with as many as nine students being selected for a performance. This year’s students include, from left, Andrew Brown, Mia Loy, Matthew Miller and July Dettore. SHS Choir Director Scott Wolodkin said the All-State Choir is a great opportunity because not only do the students perform with the state’s best choir members, but they spend three days working with a world-renowned choral director.
