STEUBENVILLE — The Sycamore Youth Center announced the return of dance instructor Diana Tygett, who taught dance camps at the nonprofit during the summer.

Tygett’s return will be to lead ballet and jazz dance classes this fall. Beginning Sept. 22, Tygett will teach a jazz class for those between the ages of 7 and 14 from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Mondays, after which she will instruct a ballet class from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The classes are free and will run through Dec. 1.

“After seeing the impact Diana made this summer, we knew we wanted her back on an ongoing basis,” stated Bobbyjon Bauman, executive director of the Sycamore Youth Center.

Tygett began dancing at the age of 5 in New York and brings a lifelong love for ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance to Steubenville.

“Along with her professional background in early childhood development, she has a special heart for working with young people,” Bauman said. “Her unique blend of technical skill and passion for the arts made this summer’s dance camps — ranging from children’s ballet to youth ballet to jazz and contemporary dance — a resounding success.”

All dance programs at the Sycamore Youth Center are free of charge and open to local youth on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
