National speaker to talk about cities’ decline

STEUBENVILLE — A nationally-renowned civic revitalization speaker is coming to Steubenville to discuss how American cities have found themselves in a decline following decades of “growth.”

According to Jacob Hyman, founder and leader of the Strong Towns Steubenville group, speaker Churck Marohn will give a presentation entitled “A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity” talk to those throughout the area.

The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St.

Hyman noted during the presentation, Marohn will explain in plain language about cities’ decline and share “a revolutionary way forward that could create enduring prosperity, with a special focus on the challenges that Rust Belt cities face and the role of local government.”

One of the questions to be addressed includes, “How do we build a financially-strong, resilient Steubenville?”

Families are welcome to attend the presentation, after which a book signing will take place. Marohn is a best-selling author, founder and president of Strong Towns.

He is on a mission to help cities and towns become stronger and more prosperous, according to organizers of the event.
