Library announces upcoming events and activities for the week of Sept. 28 through Oct. 4
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County announced its upcoming events and activities scheduled for the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.
Those interested in taking part are asked to call the library branch and register, unless otherwise noted.

Music of the West African Kora will be played by Sean Gaskell at 6 p.m. Oct. 2. The Kora, a 21-stringed harp, is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Its songs preserve an 800-year history linked to the Mande Empire’s founding. Register to listen.
Adults: Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Hightower Brewing Co. Pick up a copy of the book the goup is reading at the Main Library.

Take your dog to the Wintersville dog park to read “Love is My Favorite Thing,” by Emma Chichester Clark. The story will be posted on the fence throughout October. When finished, visit the library to receive a dog treat.
Teens: Paint a canvas, adding 3-D plaster ghosts from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1. Register to attend.
Adults: Book Club will read and discuss “Scythe,” by Neal Shusterman, at 6 p.m. on Sept. 30. Call to join.
Children: Parents are encouraged to bring their children, between the ages of 2 and 4, to Tot Time, offering stories, rhymes and songs. Classes are at 4 p.m. Oct. 6 and 13, 10 a.m. Oct. 4 or 14 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 1, 8 and 15. Sign-in will be at the children’s desk before class begins. If the class is full, an additional class will be offered at 11 a.m.
Play and Learn the Alphabet will be offered to parents and children between the ages of birth and 2. Play with toys that promote letter knowledge at 5 p.m. on Oct. 2 or at 10 a.m. on Oct. 3.
