Together We Can soccer event set
STEUBENVILLE — A soccer benefit for cancer patients will take place Oct. 4 at Harding Stadium.
High school soccer teams from Catholic Central, Indian Creek, Steubenville High School, Harrison Central, Weir High and Edison High School are coming together for the Together We Care soccer fundraiser.
This event raises money for the Cancer Dietary Initiative of Jefferson County, which provides monthly nutritional support to more than 100 local cancer patients and their families during treatment.
Officials are seeking support from local businesses and community members through gift donations to be used in drawings monetary donations for sponsorships.
Sponsorships include: Premier league, up to $99; champion league, $100 to $249; European championship, $250 to $499; and world cup, $500 or more.
All donations are tax-exempt.
All sponsors will be recognized on Facebook, announced at the event and shown on the electronic scoreboard during the event.
For the last 13 years, Together We Care has raised more than $250,000.

Sinister Soiree planned
WINTERSVILLE — The Jefferson County YoPros will hold a Sinister Soiree Halloween Party from 8 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 18 at St. Florian Hall, located on Luray Drive in Wintersville.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and include an evening of chills, thrills and devilish fun, according to organizers. The Players Club will perform the evening’s music.
A costume contest will take place, with prizes to be awarded for best costumes.
Eerie activities and ghoulish games will be held throughout the night.
All are welcome to this haunted affair, whether you come dressed as a wicked witch, a creepy clown or your favorite ghastly ghoul.
The event is for those ages 21 and older. The cost is $50 per ticket.
Lions Club to hold 5K Run/Walk
STEUBENVILLE — The Lions Club in collaboration with the Jefferson County General Health District, will host the Lions Club of Steubenville Oct. 18. Packet pickup will begin at 8 a.m., with the 5K Run/Walk starting at 9 a.m. The cost to participate is $25. Register by Oct. 6 for a race T-shirt.
The fundraiser will be a flat, downtown road race with a start and finish near Historic Fort Steuben.
