Library to hold Storytime
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will hold an evening Storytime at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Children can enjoy the story “The Problem eith Penguins,” do a craft, eat snacks and fun, organizers stated.

Library to close Sept. 10
WELLSBURG — The Follansbee Library will be closed Wednesday for a United Way Day of Caring repair. It will reopen at its normal time Sept. 11, organizers said.
PERI to meet
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Chapter of PERI will hold its monthly meeting at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Fiesta Room of Froehlich’s Classic Corner, located at 501 Washington St. in Steubenville.
The purpose of PERI is “to protect and preserve OPERS pension and benefits programs and advocate for changes that are in the best interest of PERI members, while providing value through communications and education of the membership through our districts, local chapters and external partnerships,” officials announced.
Membership in PERI is available to those who meet the following criteria: Regular membership is for OPERS members of active, retired or disability status. Membership investment can be paid annually or in a one-time life payment. Associate membership is open to spouses of OPERS members who have active or retired status. For information, visit operi.org.
Crawford to perform at church
WINTERSVILLE — Leanna Crawford has been crafting songs full of hope for years. The singer will now bring that passion to Crossroads Christian Church, located at 110 Springdale Ave. in Wintersville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
This one-night-only event, in partnership with the Richmond Methodist Church, is a show not to be missed, according to organizers. Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $10 each, plus a purchasing fee. Visit Leannaccc.eventbrite.com to purchase tickets. Crawford’s debut album entitled, “Still Waters,” is a heartfelt journey through struggle and faith. The album features the songs “For Heaven’s Sake,” “Honest,” “How Can You Not” and the title track “Still Waters.”
According to Crawford, the song and album title, “Still Waters,” was inspired by her great aunt Maurine, who possessed a steadfast faith. In addition to the “Still Waters” album, Crawford will perform the song “Psalm 23.” According to organizers, the song has touched countless hearts because of its reminder about God’s peace and presence.
Australian singer-songwriter and storyteller Nathan Tasker will open the show. Tasker’s music blends lyrics with timeless, guitar-driven melodies. With seven No. 1 radio singles and multiple Artist of the Year honors in Australia, he has captivated audiences worldwide, with songs reflecting his Christian journey.
Library to show film
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will show the rated-PG, action film “How to Train your Dragon,” at 5 p.m. Sept. 11.
The movie is based on the Isle of Berk, where vikings and dragons have battled for generations. However, that will not stop Hiccup, the son of Chief Stoick the Vast, from building an unlikely bond with the feared dragon, Toothless. Popcorn and water will be provided. Mah Jongg coming to library
WELLSBURG — Join officials at the Brooke County Public Library for Mah Jongg Fridays. Those interested in playing the game of tiles can stop by the library from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday and play. Those having their own set of tiles are welcome to bring them. Those interested in learning how to play can contact the library so officials can ensure someone will be there to assist. No registration is required.

WEIRTON — The Weirton unit of Church Women United will hold its planning meeting at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Dunbar Center. Coffee and sweets will be served following the meeting.
Library to show noon film
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library will show the rated-PG-13 movie “Jurassic World Rebirth,” at noon on Sept. 12.
The movie is about a new era being born, with a covert extraction team racing to the most dangerous place on Earth — an island research facility where dinosaurs too deadly for the original “Jurassic Park,” — were left behind.

Museum to honor Vietnam veterans
WEIRTON — The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center will host a Vietnam veteran’s event at 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at the museum, located at 3149 Main St.
A Vietnam War commemoration will be presented to all living veterans or the family of those who served on active duty during the period from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location. These individuals are eligible to receive a lapel pin.
According to organizers, the event is free to attend and light refreshments will be served.
