AHEPA to hold gyro sale
WEIRTON — The Order of AHEPA Hancock County Chapter No. 103 will hold a fundraiser, with proceeds to benefit several community nonprofits, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11 at All Saints Church, located at 3528 West St. in Weirton.
Pre-orders will be taken through Thursday by calling the church office at (304) 797-9884 or online at allstswwv.org.
The cost will be $10 per gyro, according to organizers, who noted those the group will help through this fundraiser will include the Salvation Army of Weirton, the Weirton Christian Center, Community Bread Basket, Weirton Elementary Backpack Program, the Easter Egg Hunt conducted by the Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation, the Upper Ohio Valley United Way and Dolls for Underprivileged Children.
Soup and sandwich sale set
WEIRTON — The American Legion Auxiliary Post 10 in Weirton will hold a soup and sandwich sale beginning at noon on Sunday. The sale will continue until the food has been sold, organizers said.
Dine in or carryout will be offered. The event is open to the public.
Soups will include chicken noodle, bean, stuffed pepper, chili, wedding and lobster bisque.
Sandwiches will include egg salad, chicken salad, ham salad and meatball.
In addition, desserts will be sold, including pineapple upside-down cake, yellow layered cake and brownies.
Quarts of soup will be sold as well. All sales will go toward supporting veterans, according to auxiliary members.
Class of ’59 to meet
STEUBENVILLE — Members of the Steubenville High School Class of 1959 met Aug. 13, with 18 people in attendance.
During the meeting, Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing and B.J. Moore was welcomed by the group.
Glenda Barger Zombek was offered well-wishes.
George and Patty Milosevich provided the birthday cake and sang happy birthday to those celebrating a birthday in August. Among those celebrating were Pete Barren, the Miloseviches and Terry Seese.
The Class of ’59 will hold its next meeting at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner, located at 501 Washington St. in Steubenville.

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Democratic Executive Committee and the Brooke County Democratic Women will hold their next meetings beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Wellsburg Library. All Democrats are invited to attend.

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Democratic Women will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County’s Schiappa Library.
Senior center to hold rummage sale
WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St. in Weirton, will hold a community indoor rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13.
The center is seeking vendors interested in participating. The sale is open to the public.
The cost to purchase a table will be $15 or two tables for $25. All vendors are asked to set up their stations between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 12.
Among the rummage sale items will be vintage furniture, glassware dishes, housewares, adult children’s clothing, kitchen appliances, bicycle racks, toys, knick-knacks, tools, shelves, fishing gear and prom dresses.
Various desserts will be sold at the bake sale, Smith noted. The proceeds raised through the sale of tables will be used toward the center’s roof fund, according to Director Jeannie Smith.

Motivation event planned
STEUBENVILLE — An evening of inspiration and motivation will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 at 7 Ranges Entertainment, located at the Fort Steuben Mall. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m.
“The Pursuit of Possibility” is a seminar designed for those who resonate with the indomitable spirit. Guests will hear from four entrepreneurs who have carved their own path to success. These individuals will share their insights and inspiring stories, and cultivate the resilience needed to continue for striving for greatness, officials stated.
“Together, we will celebrate the journey of relentless pursuit and ignite the passion to keep pushing boundaries, no matter the circumstances,” organizers commented. Hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at Legal Hair and Day Spa.
Library offers Tai Chi
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will offer a weekly Tai Chi class led by instructor Mike Turrentine, at 11 a.m. every Monday in the library’s River Room.
Tai Chi is a moving meditation in the form of a series of gentle exercises that create harmony between the mind and body, organizers stated.
The free hour-long class is open to the public. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing. Registration is not required. Those who would like to take the class should stop by the library the day of class. For information, call (304) 737-1551.
