WEIRTON — Cloak and Dagger on the Air is returning for its fall season at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The brand-new adaptation is written by Pete Fernbaugh of L. Frank Baum’s classic novel, “The Marvelous Land of Oz.”

Admission is free, although donations are appreciated.

Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be available.

Performed in the style of live radio drama, Cloak and Dagger on the Air: “The Marvelous Land of Oz,” will be livestreamed through the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Co. Facebook page.

“After the success of our adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s first Oz novel, ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,’ and the way in which our cast and audience embraced these unique and timeless characters, I knew I wanted to continue the series with the second novel,” Fernbaugh, who is Cloak and Dagger’s head writer and co-executive producer, said.

“I love playing in his sandbox,” he continued. “The scenarios and adventures are brilliantly creative and appeal as much to adults as they do to children. You’re never quite sure where each novel is headed, which speaks to their originality as well.”

“The Marvelous Land of Oz” will be performed by Cloak and Dagger on the Air’s acting troupe, the Wayward Saints.

Those who make up the Wayward Saints includes: Rob DeSantis, Bethany Fernbaugh, David Gaudio, Robert J. Gaudio, Noah Hilton, Jeffrey Holmes, Nancy Longo, Karissa Martin, Malachi McClendon, Nathaniel McClendon, Clare McDonald, Abby Perry, Nora Perry, Terri Perry and Dave Zanieski.

Sound effects for the production will be created by Cloak and Dagger on the Air’s sound effects team, the Holy Foley Molies.

The score by classical musician Roberta Fedoush is derived from the 1902 musical, “The Wizard of Oz,” by Baum and Paul Tietjens.

The Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau is located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17 in Weirton.

The building is situated behind the Crazy Mexican restaurant and next to Weirton Pet Spa.

“We encourage folks to set aside some extra time to check out the local businesses around us,” Fernbaugh stated.

“Three Springs Drive is filled with many dining and shopping opportunities. We hope our show can bring some traffic their way,” he added.

Cloak and Dagger on the Air is a monthly theatrical series from the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Co. that celebrates audio drama from all eras, particularly the fabled Golden Age of Radio.

By reimagining classic radio dramas and literary works, along with premiering original stories written and produced by Fernbaugh, Cloak and Dagger on the Air strives to give its audience “an immersive experience that engages the theater of their imagination in creating a fully-realized storytelling adventure.”
