Three Score Seniors hold July meeting

WEIRTON — Members of the Three Score Senior Club were welcomed to the groups monthly meeting by Vice President Kathy McCarrick, who led the meeting in the absence of President Frank Bohach, who was out due to illness.

McCarrick asked Winnie Kemp to lead the club in prayer, after which, members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang, “God Bless America.”

Following a sit-down dinner, McCarrick introduced the evening’s guest singer, Chelsea Householder, who served as the meeting’s entertainment. Those in attendance greeted Householder with applause, thanking her for taking the time to perform.

During the formal portion of the meeting, Secretary Barbara Purks read the minutes from the June meeting, which were approved.

Treasurer Brenda Edwards provided the treasury report, which was approved and filed for audit.

Edwards, serving in the capacity of membership chair, reported the club currently has 51 members.

Kemp, who serves as sunshine chair, exclaimed she sent a get-well card to Mary Bohach.

Member Mary Margaret Klepadlo celebrated a birthday, with the group singing happy birthday and wishing her well.

McCarrick decorated the meeting room in a red, white and blue theme in recognition of the Fourth of July. Members also dressed in the colors to show their patriotism.

Marlene Hare announced there were 30 reservations for the group’s July meeting.

The cost of dinner was increased by $2.

A Hawaiian night, which will include a ukulele group, will be the theme and entertainment portion for the August meeting.

A sports night theme will be held in September and a friends group will take place for the November meeting.

Prizes were won by Nancy Smurda, Linda Walter, Hare, Linda Kennedy, Jack Cassella, Ed Kennedy and Rob Klepadlo.

Those interested in joining the Three Score Senior Club should contact any member of the group, officials noted.
