JCVA recognized

The Jefferson County Fair Board paid tribute to veterans on Saturday during its closing parade. The board recognized and honored those with the Jefferson County Veterans Association, which was represented by veterans and active military men and women. Those in attendance included, from left, front, Sergeant at Arms Tom Hutkay, Fred Tarr, JCVA supporters Giada and Joseph Maccariella and Commander Frank Santa; and back, Rick Nale, Tom McCain, Michelle Hedgecoke, Bob Olexia and adjutant Barry Bardone. The JCVA established and maintains the displays at the JCVA military park, the Sheriff Fred Abdalla Sr. shelter and the Veterans Memorial Wall, located at the far end of Friendship Park. The association holds its Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs at the Memorial Wall, as well as its free annual county-wide picnic for veterans, active military members and families in Friendship Park.
