Enchanted Library coming to Fridays on Fourth Street

STEUBENVILLE — Children will soon have the opportunity to enter a pallet castle when the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County offers the Enchanted Library during an upcoming First Fridays on Fourth celebration.

The Enchanted Library will be offered from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 5 along Fourth Street in downtown Steubenville.

The one-night only activity will allow guests to step inside the pallet castle and journey through genres in an interactive, story-themed adventure.

Participants will explore wizarding halls, a whimsical garden, a time machine and a pirate’s lair — that is, if they can find their way out.

The exploration is free of charge and an interactive event created for all ages. When the clock strikes 11, however, it will be gone for good, organizers commented.

“We would love for everyone to come and experience the magic before the story ends,” officials said.

The library has announced its additional events and activities that will be held at area library branches during the week of Aug. 31 through Sept. 6.

Look for a new StoryWalk event to take place in September at Historic Beatty Park. Bring your family outdoors and read the book “The House of Grass and Sky,” written by Mary Lyn Ray. When you have finished, stop by the library where children can pick up their prize.

Beginning Sept. 2, stop in the library anytime to pick up a bag of supplies that will help you to make a craft or read a book.

A grab-and-go craft and Story Time will be available, while supplies last.

Children ages 2-6 will have fun while learning the letters of the alphabet during Play and Learn the Alphabet, scheduled to take place at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 4.

Paint a leaf using shaving cream at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 4. Register to attend.
