Toronto seniors celebrate being kind
TORONTO — Members of the Toronto Sunrise Seniors were instructed by their president, Barbara Pritts, to say only kind things to one another during the club’s meeting held on June 27 at the Karaffa Recreation Center.
Those in attendance learned the evening had been declared as, “Be Nice to Each Other Day,” with Pritts welcoming the seniors and offering kind words.
Co-chaplain Mary Lou Emery provided the blessing prior to the meal that consisted of different varieties of pizza from Iggy’s.
Following dinner, members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Vice President Sandi Radvansky read the minutes from the last meeting.
Treasurer Lynn Miller gave the financial report.
Social Secretary Mary Ann Landerfield announced those who were celebrating a birthdays in June.
Landerfield announced those who will be serving as guest speakers during the club’s upcoming meetings. She noted Susan Tarr of A and B Pharmacy will attend the July 25 meeting.

Two individuals were remembered under the health report. Each will be sent a card from the club, officers noted.
Pritts reminded attendees of the group’s next meeting, which is scheduled for Friday.
She informed members the meeting will be an indoor picnic, featuring snacks and hotdogs at noon, a variety of games with prizes throughout the afternoon and a picnic-themed dinner at 5 p.m.
No formal meeting will follow the dinner, Pritts said, adding guests will be invited to stay and play bingo at the conclusion of the picnic.
Betty Mossor was recognized as member of the month and presented with a gift card for the recognition.

There were 10 people who won a free bingo card based on their answers. Candi Murphy was the member who correctly predicted the total cost of the picnic items and was awarded a gift card.
The winners of the 50/50 drawing were Mossor and Radvansky.
