STEUBENVILLE — Get ready for a fun-filled summer evening Aug. 8, as the Sycamore Youth Center and Aim Women’s Center co-host their annual Summer Block Party. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the green space next to the Aim center, located at the corner of North and Fifth streets in Steubenville.

This year’s party promises an exciting lineup of family-friendly activities and entertainment. Children will enjoy an array of inflatables and games. Families can enjoy a free cookout featuring hamburgers, hot dogs and cold drinks. Music and dance performers will take to the stage throughout the evening.

Featured entertainers will include Lynzee Ensell, 2021 winner of the Valley’s Got Talent competition, who will perform a dance showcase. Ensell will be joined by the Dance Force Elite Rising Stars Dance Team, known for their choreography and routines. Hip-hop artists J.R. Lawrence Lewis and Jeff Tyler of CBE 180, will perform, delivering music which has a powerful, inspirational message, organizers said.

“I’m thrilled to bring the community together in a night of celebration, music and activity,” stated Bobbyjon Bauman, executive director of Sycamore. “Our goal is to create a safe, fun space where families can connect and kids can be kids.”

The event is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pa., which donated the meat for the cookout. Representatives from the school will be on site to share information about the campus and opportunities for students.

“Partnering with Sycamore to host this block party is truly a blessing,” commented Rebekah Cohen Morris, executive director of the Aim Women’s Center. “It’s an incredible opportunity to support our community, promote unity and offer families and individuals an opportunity to get to know one another.”

The block party is free and open to the public. Food and activities will be available, while supplies last.

The nonprofits’ Summer Block Party is part of a broader mission — to bring hope, joy and practical support — to youth and families throughout the Ohio Valley. With entertainment, food and fun for all ages, the afternoon promises to be one of the highlights of the summer in Steubenville, Bauman concluded.
