Library announces upcoming events and activities

STEUBENVILLE — The magic begins July 21 at all branches of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County.

Harry Potter grab-and-go bags will be available for children, while supplies last. Each bag contains supplies to make a wand.

Library officials announced several additional activities and events that will be taking place at area libraries throughout the week of July 20-26. Those interested in participating should register to ensure a seat.

Main Library (740) 282-9782

Attend Family Movie Night and defy gravity. The event will begin at 2 p.m. on July 21. Costumes are encouraged and snacks will be included. Call to reserve a seat and discover the title of the movie you will be watching.

Children: Bring in a white T-shirt to tie-dye at 3 p.m. pn July 22. This activity is for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Registration is required.

The Summer Reading Program will wrap up its event by having worm races at 3 p.m. July 25. Register to attend.

Adena Branch (740) 320-0008

Adults: Paint a flower pot and decorate it with faux succulents at 5 p.m. July 22. Register to participate.

Children: Stop in anytime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on July 21 to create art by using tissue paper.

Play outside with a parachute at 1 p.m. July 24. The event will be canceled if it is raining. Register to attend.

Brilliant Branch (740) 314-4309

Children: The Summer Reading Program will be wrapping up this week. Join officials as they hold an annual worm race, play games and enjoy snacks. The wrap-up party begins at 6 p.m. July 24.

Adults: Color pages designed for adults between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on July 21.

Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Branch (740) 314-4310

Children: Children ages 5 and older are invited to play outside with a parachute at 1 p.m. July 25. The activity will be canceled in the event of rain. Register to attend.

Teens: Make a colorful wall hanging at 5 p.m. on July 21. Register to attend.

Schiappa Branch (740) 264-6166

Teens: We will be displaying teen art from 5 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on July 23. Stop in to pick up an application and showcase your design.

Children: Play and Learn the Alphabet will take place at 11 a.m. July 22. Children between the ages of birth to 4 can visit with the parent or guardian and play with toys that promote alphabet knowledge.

Parachute fun will be held outdoors for children ages 5 and older at 11 a.m. July 21. Register to attend.

An ice cream social and worm races will help to celebrate a successful finish to the library’s annual Summer Reading Program. Join the library staff at 2 p.m. on July 24 to help wrap up the event.

Children: The library will wrap up its Summer Reading Program at 6 p.m. July 22. There will be worm races, games and snacks. Register to attend.

Toronto Branch (740) 537-1262

Children: The Summer Reading Program will hold a wrap party featuring worm races and snacks. The event will take place at 3 p.m. on July 24. Registration is required.
