Chamber to hold Burger Bash

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its Burger Bash and Cornhole Tournament from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 5 at 185 Franciscan Square. Tickets are $30 each and includes one meal, two drink tickets and endless fun, according to organizers. A $200 cash payout will go to the winning cornhole tournament team. Music will be provided by Lee the dee jay.

Sponsorships are being sought, chamber officials announced. Those wishing to contribute to being a sponsor can do so at various levels.

The levels include: A Burger Bash sponsor will receive business recognition on all event signage and social media, along with two event tickets, $125; an entertainment sponsor will receive four tickets to the event, recognition in all press releases, prominent social media recognition and inclusion on all event signage, $600; a Burger Bar sponsor will receive four tickets to the event, recognition in all press releases, prominent social media recognition and inclusion on all event signage, $600; and a presenting sponsor will receive eight tickets to the event, event partner recognition in all press releases, prominent social media recognition and inclusion on all event signage, $1,200.

Registration and payments can be made online by visiting jeffersoncountychamber.com/events. A portion of the proceeds will continue to fund the Anita Jackson Community Service Scholarship.

Kickball tournament seeking teams

STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Valley Health Center will hold its fifth-annual Kickin’ it for OVHC Kickball Tournament will take place at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at Belleview Park in Steubenville.

Registration is open until noon on Aug. 6. The cost will be $200 per 10-person team, organizers stated. The co-ed event will include double elimination. Awards will be given for the winning team and for best uniform.

“Our previous kickball tournaments have been a blast, and this year promises to be just as exciting,” stated Ann Quillen, OVAC executive director. “As the only free medical clinic in Jefferson County, the Ohio Valley Health Center is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate medical care to our uninsured and underinsured patients.”

The nonprofit agency relies strictly on donations, grants and fundraisers to sustain its mission. Events such as the upcoming kickball tournament are vital in order to generate the essential funds and to foster community spirit by offering a fun-filled activity for all participants. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will support the OVAC’s onsite medication room.

UMWA to meet

HOPEDALE — The United Mine Workers of America Local No. 1304 will hold its regular meeting at 10 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Hopedale American Legion, located at 48225 Rabbit Road in Hopedale. Breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m.

Democratic Women to meet

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Democratic Executive Committee and the Brooke County Democratic Women will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Wellsburg Library.

All Democrats are welcome to attend.
