Library to hold foam party
TORONTO — The Toronto Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will hold a back-to-school foam party with Screwie Louie’s from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 7. Bring a towel, as the forecast is expected to be sudsy, officials stated.

Night at the Races set for Friday
MINGO JUNCTION — A Night at the Races to benefit the Indian Creek High School football team will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Aracoma Park.
The event will involve simulated horse races on a big screen.
Participants will have the opportunity to bet on the winners, enjoy food and drinks, take part in a Chinese auction and take part in additional fundraisers.
Tickets will be $15 and can be purchased at the door.
The event is open to those 21 and older.
Church to hold annual picnic
WEIRTON — Holy Resurrection Church will hold its annual Serb Fest Picnic from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Serbian Picnic Grounds, located on Kings Creek Road in Weirton.
Managed by the church’s Serbian Men’s Club, the event will feature traditional Serbian food, music by the Serbian orchestra Srpski Sinovi and fun for everyone, organizers stated.
Located on 11 acres, the picnic site offers guests tree-shaded lawns, ample parking, kitchen facilities, dedicated buildings for barbecuing meats, a playground, sports field, basketball court, coolers, restrooms and a covered pavilion which includes a bar, stage and dance floor. The grounds are available to rent throughout the summer for those interested in holding an event, officials noted.
Bergholz Museum open Sunday
BERGHOLZ — The Bergholz Museum will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The museum, located at 268 Second St., sits across from the town parking lot. Admission will be free to the public.
The featured display for July is highlighting historic memorabilia from area churches, officials stated. The museum’s permanent collection includes items related to area communities, mines, businesses and schools. The museum has an extensive collection of materials spanning the history of Springfield High School, as well as the Springfield Local School District.
Oak Glen Class of ’75 to reunite
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Oak Glen High School Class of 1975 will hold its 50th class reunion Aug. 22-23. The festivities will begin with a reunion golf event, scheduled to take place Aug. 22 at the Turkana Golf Course in East Liverpool. A casual ice breaker has been planned for 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the White Stallion in Chester. The sports bar is located at 2701 Lincoln Hwy. A reunion dinner will conclude the weekend, organizers announced. The dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Holiday Inn in Weirton.

Senior center to hold rummage sale
WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., will hold an indoor community rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13. A bake sale also will take place during the sale. The purpose of the sale is to raise money for roof repairs to the center, officials stated.
Tables the length of 8 feet can be rented at the cost of $15 each or two for $25. Those interested in serving as a vendor will be able to set up from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 12. Senior center announces bus trip
WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center announced a bus trip is being planned to see a performance of the new musical, “A Christmas Carol,” at the Ohio Star Theater in Sugarcreek. The public is invited to attend.
The Amish trip will take place Nov. 29. The cost will be $115 and includes one show ticket, an Amish buffet dinner and bus transportation.
The holiday classic will be brought to life through a new musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic about the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, as he is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve.
The orchestrated Broadway-style score was written by Steve Parsons and lyrics by John Popa, which breath new life into the classic tale, according to theater officials. For tickets or information, contact senior center director Jeanie Smith at (304) 748-3490.
