Board of Trustees to meet
WINTERSVILLE — The Cross Creek Board of Trustees will meet in special session at 4 p.m. Monday at the board office, located at 1267 Cadiz Road in Wintersville.
The agenda includes the board to open bids on the 2025 resurfacing project, emergency repairs for Cross Creek Road 544 and to discuss the hiring of a road employee.
Urban Mission in need of volunteers
STEUBENVILLE — The Urban Mission in Steubenville is looking for those who are interested in volunteering during this year’s annual Back-to-School Bash, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14 at 234 N. Seventh St., in the parking lot of the Seventh Street Plaza.
According to Cynthia Lytle, director of programs and community engagement, anyone who is of middle-school age and older is welcome to volunteer for the day.
“We are in need of volunteers to help us on the day of the event,” Lytle stated. “We need assistance with everything from set up to distribution to clean up.”
Lytle noted slots fill up quickly, so those who would like to help the nonprofit should reach out to express your interest in contributing.

The Urban Mission is still in need of supplies for the day of the event, Lytle stated.
Anyone interested in donating to the bash, which is expected to have approximately 900 students attend, can purchase supplies and bring them to the office, located at 311 N. Sixth St. prior to Aug. 8.
Monetary contributions can be made online by visiting urbanmission.org.
The donations will go toward purchasing additional supplies for those in preschool through 12th grade.
Among the supplies needed are college and wide-ruled notebooks, college and wide-ruled filler paper, two-pocket folders, composition notebooks, 24-paks of crayons, colored pencils, 10-packs of markers, dry-erase markers, No. 2 pencils, pens, glue sticks and glue bottles.
Donations can be dropped off at the main office during business hours, which are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Toronto to hold blood drive
TORONTO — Crossroads North River Church will host a community blood drive with officials from the American Red Cross.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday inside the church sanctuary, located at 207 N. River Ave. in Toronto.
