Edison FFA seeks vendors
RICHMOND — Members of the Edison High School FFA Chapter are looking to expand the club’s reach in the community by seeking local vendors who would be interested in taking part in the chapter’s future events.
According to co-adviser Kristen Truex, the student organization wants to offer the community a farmer’s market, among other venues.
“We’re looking for vendors for a farmers market,” Truex announced. “They can include crafters and homemade items.” She noted these activities could occur during the late summer or early fall, adding additional information will be announced once the dates and events are set.
Truex explained FFA Sentinel Sydney Newbern created the farmers market concept, and other members are brainstorming ideas for events. She said the FFA previously held a farmers market in the school’s parking lot, and believes that will be a good site to hold one again later this year.
“We’ve been discussing ideas and that was one we wanted to get started,” Truex stated. “We also want to do a tractor show in the future, after someone suggested we bring it back.”
The Classic Tractor Show and Car Cruise-in was held for more than a decade but was shelved during COVID, officials exclaimed. It was a popular activity that drew many visitors and is one the FFA hopes to hold again. Plans are in the works for a Fall Fest Community Day, which features a dunk tank and chili cook-off contest.
“The chili cook-off went well in October, and we plan to do it again,” Truex commented.
