Buckeye to hold Back-to-School Bash Sunday
CONNORVILLE — The Buckeye Local School District is preparing its students for the start of another school year by holding its annual Back-to-School Bash. The event wil take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Buckeye Local High School.
Among the activities will be vendors on site, treats for attendees and free school supplies to help families cut costs.
Organizer Susie Nolan, who serves as principal at Buckeye North Elementary School, stated there will be plenty of fun for everyone, as students get ready to return for the 2025-26 school year.
“The Back-to-School Bash is meant to help families and students with school supplies so they have one less financial issue to deal with, along with having some fun before school begins,” Nolan said. “Our bash is absolutely free.”
Kona Ice of Pittsburgh will be an addition to the bash this year. The company will provide cool treats for a small charge, officials said, noting more than two dozen vendors will be in attendance. Free items will be available, with some merchandise being for sale.
Nolan announced free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, music, inflatable rides and information will be available throughout the afternoon, as well as books for people of all ages. The bash has been an ongoing annual event for more than a decade, Nolan said, adding the event always yields a large turnout. The back-to-school offering would not be possible without the support of local benefactors, Nolan commented.
“We hold this bash through the generosity of local businesses and personal donations to help our students,” she stated. The new school year will begin Aug. 21 for a majority of the Buckeye schools. Kindergarten classes are set to start Aug. 25, with preschool to begin Aug. 27.
