4-H clubs go fishing
The Passport to Fishing program was held at the Jewett Sportsman Club June 12. Members in the 4-H Club from Jefferson and Harrison counties were invited to participate. The children, along with their parents, were taught about fishing, including what items should be kept inside a tackle box, how to read a lake map, why a permission slips is needed to fish, how to tie a fishing knot and how to cast a pole. Attendees had the opportunity to fish and review different 4-H project books related to the outdoors. There are more than 250 4-H projects the children can take. Those who are interested in joining a club can call (740) 264-2212. Those taking part in the fishing program included, from left, Ava Aftanas, Peter Walters and Kayden Rogers.
