Highland Springs Ladies League
The women of the Highland Springs Ladies Golf League played the back nine holes Monday. Play of the day was “Blind Partner.” The winning pair was Neysa McCart and Dotty Virtue. The second-place team was Veronica Foldi and McCart. The prize for the longest drive was won by Yuko Atwell. The prize for closest to the pin on second shot was won by Erin Ankrum. Virtue had the lowest putts of the round.
The nine-hole golf league is open to all women golfers. Play is held each Monday from May through September at the Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg. Tee-off begins at 5 p.m. Those women who are interested in participating in the league and want to sign up, should call the clubhouse on the day of play by 3:30 p.m. at (304) 737-2201.
Cadiz Women’s Golf League
The Cadiz Women’s Golf League’s play of the day on Wednesday was “Low Score on the Front Nine.” Hostesses were Pat Stewart and Sandy Terek. Winners of the play of the day included Kathy Newburn, A Flight; Brenda Hartley, B Flight; and Denise Augustine, C Flight. Newburn was the winner of Low putt winners were: Newburn, A Flight; Hartley, B Flight; and Kim Ochsenbine, C Flight. Players who obtained birdies included: Tracy Amos, three birdies; Marilyn Kenny, two birdies; Roberta Cireddu, one birdie; and Newburn, one birdie. Stewart and Cireddu had chip-ins. A brief monthly meeting was held following lunch, where members discussed Guest Day, scheduled to take place July 16.
Town and Country Ladies Golf League
The Town and Country Ladies Golf League played a scramble May 29. The first-place team was Dorothy Baier, Pat Zorne, Toni Dondzila and Marge Serafini. The second-place team consisted of players Signa Findlay, Cathy Jackson and Marilyn Crew. The team coming in third was made up of Kathy Antinone, Linda Staffilino, Dora Elizaga and Nancy Lellie. The longest drive winners on hole No. 1 were: Jackson, A Flight; Crew, B Flight; and Serafini, C Flight. The longest drive winners on hole No. 1were: Baier, A Flight; Elizaga, B Flight; and Lellie, C Flight.
