Sheriff’s luncheon
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. hosted his bi-monthly veterans gathering on Tuesday. Abdalla held a barbecued luncheon for area veterans at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, where approximately 40 veterans enjoyed an array of picnic foods, along with desserts. Barry Bardone, adjutant for the Jefferson County Veterans Association, presented Abdalla with the organization’s new symbolic T-shirt for his continuous support of the JCVA and all veterans. Those attending the barbecue luncheon included, from left, front, Joseph and Giada Maccariella, JCVA supporters; and back, Bardone; Frank Santa, JCVA member; Abdalla; John Kaffana, JCVA commander; Michelle Hedgecoke and Fred Tarr, JCVA members. Bardone advised those in attendance of the JCVA’s upcoming county-wide picnic for all veterans and those who are currently serving in the military. The free event will take place July 26 at the Shelters 1,2 and 3 at Friendship Park in Smithfield.
