Pennington’s to have new owners beginning July 21
JEWETT — After nearly a decade, Pennington’s owner Shawn Pennington has announced that Harrison County residents Scott and Amie Shultz will be taking over the operations and ownership of the business.
The establishment will be closed June 21 and will reopen June 30. The new name of the business will be The Block-o Bar and Grill.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to pass the torch to Scott and Amie,” Pennington stated. “Their deep roots in Harrison County and genuine love for this community makes them the perfect choice, and I can’t wait to experience their vision and the changes they are about to make as a future customer, myself.”
“Amie and I have always believed in the power of community,” Scott said.
“We are thrilled to become stewards of this incredible gathering place that the staff at Pennington’s has built,” he continued. “The Block-o Bar and Grill will honor the legacy of great food, live music and genuine hospitality that Pennington’s is known for, while we add our own family touch. We can’t wait to welcome both longtime customers and new faces through our doors, and we’re especially excited to create new memories with the people who make Harrison County such a special place to call home.”
The new owners say they plan to announce and implement several “exciting changes,” while preserving the venue’s core identity in the weeks leading up to June 30, including new hours, menu changes and more.
A grand-opening celebration date will be announced in the coming weeks. According to Shultz, hirings will take place for staff in the near future and those interested should visit Pennington’s social media sites.
Since its founding in 2016, the business has been featured as one of the “must try restaurants in the state of Ohio,” by the Ohio Road Trips Facebook group, which has more than 420,000 members.
Located at 106 E. Main St. in Jewett, Pennington’s has hosted a number of Grammy award-winning, nationally renowned performers, including Neal McCoy, Aaron Tippin, Joe Nichols, Pam Tillis, Deana Carter, Thompson Square and the Confederate Railroad. The venue’s monthly concert-style karaoke contests have become a staple, drawing regular crowds.
Pennington’s will continue normal operations through June 21.
