Funseeker’s to hold August election of officers
WEIRTON — Members of the Funseekers Club met June 4 at Undo’s in Weirton for their monthly meeting, which was called to order by President Cathy DiBenedetto.
DiBenedetto introduced Joann Bugin, who opened the evening with a Father’s Day reading. She provided the blessing, led in the recitation of the pledge and led the singing of “God Bless America.”
Those celebrating a birthday or anniversary in June were recognized.
A thank-you letter from Frank Cole was shared with the members.
Following a buffet dinner, members played bingo. Winners included Charlotte Christian, Gene Viola, John Balzano and Barb Purks, who won the coverall.
During the business meeting, the treasurer’s and secretary’s reports were read and approved.
Under old business, the group was reminded an election of officers for the September through August 2027 term will take place during the August meeting. Volunteers are needed to serve on a nominating committee and new officers are needed for the roles of president, vice president, treasurer and secretary.
DiBenedetto posted the following on social media: “You are invited to join the Funseeker’s Senior Citizens Club. Free membership is being offered for a limited time. Under new business, a discussion was held on the location of future meeting sites. Several sites were suggested and will be reviewed during an upcoming meeting, officials noted.
Members discussed their summer picnic, with a vote in favor of a luau theme, to be held at Undo’s on Wednesday. Those planning to attend are encouraged to wear tropical shirts or grass skirts and coconut bras.
Tour director Regina Truax reported on upcoming bus trips. She announced trips include Hartville Acres, July 18; the Pittsburgh Pirates vs Chicago White Sox, July 20; Everett Railroad and Western Maryland train trip and a stop at the Shanksville 911 Memorial, July 23-25; Christmas in New York, the Rockettes, Nov. 17-20; and the Oglebay Festival of Lights, Nov. 21.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Joe DiBenedetto. Door prizes were presented by Gene Dalfanso to Phyllis Riapos, Donna Balzano, Chuck Bugin, Cole, Rob Kapadlo, Valerie Rowland, Carl Wiesenski, Les Stuckmeyer, Marlene Dunn and Larry Purks.
Undo’s gift certificates were won by Joann Bugin and John Balzano.
The door prizes for July will be presented by Larry and Mary Beth Bauer.
