Edison Local School District to hold first all-school reunion

RICHMOND — For the first time in its history, the Edison Local School District will host an All Edison Class Reunion — a gathering that welcomes graduates from any class and any of the district’s high schools.

The event is scheduled to take place from noon to 8 p.m. July 19 at Richmond Park, located at 210 S. Park St. in Richmond.

The reunion will take place during the annual Brew and Food Truck Festival, hosted by Festival in the Woods, making it a family-friendly celebration complete with food, drinks and entertainment for all ages.

Edison Local School District has deep roots in Jefferson County history.

Formed from the consolidation of Stanton, Springfield and Jefferson Union high schools, Edison represents generations of students and shared memories. While individual class reunions have been held throughout the years, this will be the first time an open invitation has been extended to all former students from any of the schools that make up Edison’s legacy.

Planning a class reunion often comes with challenges — venue selection, food options, pricing and whether families can attend.

Organizer Kim Richardson has tackled these concerns head-on.

“The class of 2003 approached me when they were having trouble with a location for their reunion,” Richardson explained.

“They couldn’t find a spot that fit everyone, was family-friendly and had food options for all,” she added. “I suggested they join the Brew and Food Truck Festival and have a central meeting place. It turned out to be a huge success.”

With that model in mind, Richardson expanded the idea for this summer’s gathering.

The festival will feature 10 food trucks, a large playground for children and a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Its flexible hours will allow attendees to drop in at their convenience throughout the day.

In celebration of this landmark occasion, commemorative T-shirts are available online for purchase. Richardson encourages attendees to wear the shirts to show their Edison pride.

“This is a chance for everyone to come together — to celebrate where we came from, to reconnect and to have a great time,” she concluded. “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Richmond.”
