Flood Relief Festival set

WHEELING — The Ohio Valley will come together in a big way this summer, as the Rise Up Flood Relief Festival will take place Saturday at River City in Wheeling. Its mission is to support families affected by the recent catastrophic floods in Valley Grove and Triadelphia, organizers explained. The event will run from 11 a.m. to midnight, offering a full day of live music spanning a wide range of genres. Whether you are into rock, country, blues or indie, the lineup will feature something for everyone.

All proceeds from the festival will go directly to Appalachian Outreach, a trusted local nonprofit providing urgent relief and long-term recovery assistance to flood victims in the region. No tickets or door charges will be taken for admission, rather, donations are encouraged. Donations can also be made online at paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/113901.

The lineup, although it may be subject to change, includes confirmed performers Donnie Decena, Whiskey Rider, Paul Shearer, Jeff Tappe, Jule Carenbauer, Bob Gaudio, Atomic Shindig, the Council, Adrian Niles Trio, Luke Burkhardt and the Logan Wojcik Band. OVDJ Productions will keep the music rolling between acts. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and family, enjoy the music and contribute what they can to the cause. Additional event information and the performance schedule will be shared via social media and local media outlets.

“This is more than a concert — it’s a call to action,” organizers said. “We want to show the world what the Ohio Valley is all about: Having our neighbors’ backs in times of need. Be cool and be kind. Exist and be decent.”

Church to hold VBS

FOLLANSBEE — The Hooverson Heights Church of Christ, located at 100 Church Ave. in Follansbee, will hold Vacation Bible School for children between the ages of 4 and 12 from July 14-16.

The VBS’s theme will be “Wonder Junction,” and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Those attending will take part in Bible lessons, music, crafts, games and snacks. For information, call (304) 527-1853.

Richmond Lions to hold picnic

RICHMOND — The Richmond Lions Club will hold its community picnic at 6 p.m. July 12 at the new shelter at Richmond Park.

The Lions Club will recognize police officers, firefighters and first responders, from the geographical area the club serves. Members will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon and cookies to guests.

JCBDD to hold Summer Bash

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold its annual Summer Bash from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 31 at the Jeffco Center, located at 256 John Scott Highway in Steubenville. More than 150 people attended last year’s event, with a similar number expected at this year’s beach theme bash. Community and Public Relations Specialist Cookie West, who is coordinating the event with Service and Support Administration Director Lynette Ekey, explained the gathering will include food, music and lots of fun for everyone.

“It’s usually very well attended,” she said. “People meet with others they haven’t seen in fellowship, and it will include food, games and karaoke. We’re welcoming families to come catch up and have good food and a good time.”

The summer bash began last year as a way to provide individuals with festivities that celebrate togetherness. Families will receive a “Save the Date” reminder. Those planning to attend must RSVP by July 16. For information, contact West at awest@jcbdd.org or call (740) 264-5812.

Brew and Food Truck Festival set

RICHMOND — Mark your calendars and bring your appetites to the 2025 Brew and Food Truck Festival, rolling into Richmond July 19. The event promises to include a full day of food, fun and festivities for the whole family, organizers stated.

The festival will take place from noon to 8 p.m. in Richmond Park, located at 210 S. Park St. The park will be transformed into a foodie’s paradise, featuring eight unique food trucks, live music and beverages courtesy of Festival in the Woods.

This year’s food truck lineup includes: Stokes Wood Fired Pizza, Cousins Maine Lobster, Los Gallitos LLC, the Cheesy Pack, Dairy Jean, Insane Food Train, B-ONE BBQ and Catering LLC and Kathy’s Fresh Popped Kettle Corn.

While children can enjoy the playground and open space, adults can cool down with water, summer brews or lemonade, with an optional Tito’s kicker available at the back shelter house.

The family-friendly event welcomes children, pets, friends and neighbors alike. Whether you’re craving gourmet pizza, fresh seafood, sweet treats or barbecued favorites, there will be something for every palate, organizers said.

Those attending are asked not to park on the hill leading up to the park area. A shuttle service will be running throughout the day. Parked cars on the hill make it difficult for the shuttle to pass, officials noted. For updates or sneak peeks, visit 2025 Brew and Food Truck Festival on Facebook.

“Come celebrate summer in Richmond Park — great food, cold drinks, live music and a community vibe you won’t want to miss,” organizers commented. “All are welcome.”

Officials are reminding residents the festival is also the setting for the first All-Edison Class Reunion.

Graduates who attended any of the district’s high schools, including Stanton, Springfield Jefferson Union and Edison Local high schools, are invited to attend. Edison represents generations of students, and this event will mark the first time an open invitation has been extended to all former students that make up the district’s legacy. Commemorative T-shirts are available for purchase online. Attendees are encouraged to wear the shirts to show their Edison pride.
