McDonald’s to hold fundraiser

WELLSVILLE — McDonald’s in Wellsville will hold a fundraiser between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday. Officials announced 15 percent of the sales raised during these three hours will be given to the family of Clayton Don Eugene Talbert Jr., a fourth-grader who died following a bicycle accident in May. The money will be used to assist with funeral and other expenses the family has been faced with. There will be a basket drawing and donation jar on site. All donations will go to the Talbert family.

“Coming together as a community and supporting those in times of need is invaluable,” stated McDonald’s Owner Trey Locke. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Talbert family while they endure this unimaginable grief.” The restaurant is located at 100 Lisbon St. in Wellsville.

Museum to host open house

RICHMOND — Sunday will mark the first in a series of open houses that are being planned this summer for the Crew House Museum, located at 34 W. Main St. in Richmond. Hosted by the Richmond Community Historical Society, the event will be held from noon until 4 p.m. Admission will be free; however, donations are appreciated. Visitors can browse at their leisure and direct any questions to historical society members who will be on hand.

Other Sunday open houses are planned for June 22, July 13, July 27, Aug. 10 and Aug. 24. Each open house will run from noon to 4 p.m.

For 146 years, the museum was home to the Crew family. Next year will mark the site’s 200th anniversary. Today’s museum features a variety of town memorabilia and boasts a second floor that is dedicated to Jefferson Union High School items, which is especially of interest to JUHS classes, affording them access as part of their reunion plans.

Plans for the series of open houses came about during the historical society’s most recent meeting held May 20 in the days leading up to Richmond’s Memorial Day parade, which the society organizes. The theme of the parade was “50 Years of History in our Community,” held in observance of the historical society marking a milestone this year, as 2025 is the golden anniversary of the organization that was chartered on Jan. 20, 1975. In addition to organizing the holiday parade, the historical society hosts its annual fundraiser, Quaker Day celebration, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27 in the area of the Crew House Museum. The event will feature food, live entertainment and vendors.

Officers of the historical society include John Jones, president; Marge Andres, vice president; Sandy Judy, secretary; and Wendy Byers, treasurer.

The group’s next meeting will be held at 7 p.m July 15 at the Crew House Museum. Anyone is welcome to attend or become a member. Annual dues are $5. A lifetime membership is $50. Richmond pottery will be available for purchase, including crocks for $25 and mugs for $12.
