STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has partnered with the Urban Mission to extend its hotspot lending program to those at the nonprofit agency.

The program brings free WiFi access directly to guests of the Urban Mission’s shelter, officials explained.

This new initiative will help to ensure that all Jefferson County residents — regardless of housing status — has access to essential online services.

Such services include the opportunity to conduct job searches, make tele-health appointments, continue with one’s education and be able to stay connected to loved ones.

“Internet access is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity,” stated Community Outreach Coordinator Sarita Asawa. “We’re proud to work with the Urban Mission to meet people where they are and provide this vital connection.”

The program is part of the library’s ongoing commitment to digital equity and community support — helping to bridge the gap for those who need it most.
