Phillipson named principal at Catholic Central

STEUBENVILLE — Catholic Central High School’s board of pastors has named Todd Phillipson as the new principal of Catholic Central High School.

Phillipson has worked at the Jefferson County Vocational School for the past 29 years, serving as superintendent for the last 10. Prior to that, he was a teacher and administrator in local Catholic schools. He received his doctorate in instructional management and leadership from Robert Morris University. He obtainbed his masters in educational administration from Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Phillipson is a 1987 graduate of Catholic Central and has had a long relationship with the school, including involvement with the football, girls’ basketball, swimming, golf and softball programs. He has been involved with the Cynthia Rose Phillipson Charitable Foundation and Cynthia’s Kitchen Project, through which the schools raised money in order to provide food for children in Liberia and Malawi through Mary’s Meals.

Jamie Ross, a 2005 Central graduate, will serve as assistant principal, the board stated.

Ross has worked at Catholic Central as a biology teacher and has been the guidance counselor at the school for the last 15 years.

She received a master’s degree in education from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
