Library announces events

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will hold its summer reading program “Color Our World,” beginning June 9. People of all ages can take part in the event, which will be offered at all library locations throughout Jefferson County, including the library’s Bookmobile. The summer of fun will run through July 26, according to officials.

The Cheesy Pack food truck will be in the library parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 12. Stop by to purchase food and to register for the summer reading program.

Children: Mr. Puppet, the ventriloquist, will visit the library for a laughter-filled show at 3:30 p.m. June 9. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tot Time will be held for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4 at 11 a.m. June 10, June 17 and June 24. The program will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 12, June 19 and June 16. Stop in or call to register.

Children between the ages of 4 and 10 can enjoy doing activities by mixing clay and paint at 3 p.m. June 11. Register in advance to participate.

All ages and all abilities are invited to visit the library at any time between June 9 and June 11 to help color a life-size canvas containing drawings done by artists from the Jefferson County Board of Disabilities and the Steubenville Art Association. Supplies will be provided.

The Ice Cream Island food truck will be in the library parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 10. Stop by for food and to register for the summer reading program.

Children: Stop in anytime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. June 12 to paint a summer suncatcher. Available while supplies last.

Children: Make a Father’s Day craft with this month’s grab-and-go bag beginning on June 13, while supplies last.

Professional cartoonist J.D. Williamson will visit the library at 3:30 p.m. June 14 to entertain children through drawing and stories. Williamson is an award-winning PBS Athens Children’s Program educational entertainer. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Scholastic Book Fair will take place this week at the library. Build your home collection by purchasing books between the hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 9-12 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 13-14.
