The First Christian Church Disciples Women held their spring meeting May 8. Guest speaker was Vickie Valles Joseph, treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul’s Bed Ministry in Wheeling. Joseph spoke about the need for beds at the ministry, noting her organization puts together the bed with a mattress, pillow and linens for people in need of a place to sleep rather than the floor. Oftentimes it is parents and children needing the beds, she said. The group collected bed linens and gave a monetary donation from church members to the cause. President Janet Rymer called the meeting to order and Secretary Karen Blanc said grace prior to the meal hosted by Carol Skerbetz. Guest pianist was Judy Cross, as members sang, “Pass It On.” Vice President Susan Brown led an icebreaker and taught a button craft. Treasurer Connie Norwood gave her devotion on the meeting’s theme, “Bloom Where God Plants You.” Those taking part in the meeting included, from left, Rymer, Blanc, Joseph, Brown, Skerbetz and Norwood.
