St. Agnes Woman’s Club name new treasurer

MINGO JUNCTION — The St. Agnes Catholic Woman’s Club met March 18, beginning the meeting with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, a Lenten prayer service and grace prior to the meal.

An Irish dinner was served by hostesses Terri McGuire, Michelle Dickey, Janet Daley and Ashlynne Clendenen.

President Theresa Madden began the business meeting with the roll call of officers, all of which were present with the exception of Joanne Raha.

There were 23 members in attendance. The minutes were read and approved, as well as the treasurer’s report, given by Madden and submitted by Raha.

In the absence of Kathy Flippo, Dorothy Mazik recognized those members who were celebrating a birthday in March, including Leanne Hutton and Daley.

Kathy Coldebella reported on cards that have been sent to those in need, and took requests for those in need of a card.

Madden announced the Knights of Columbus expressed their appreciation to everyone who helped with their annual fish frys, including Dorothy Mazik, Mary See, Karen Giuliani, Charlotte Hauber, Rita Costantini, Daley, Leona, Madden, Jen Fabian and Fabian’s daughters, Jordan and Jenna.

The Rev. James Dunfee announced that Bible study will resume at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Hostesses for the April meeting will be Michele Fabbro, Rose Chappano and Theresa Jurasko.

Chappano donated the meeting’s door prize.

It was announced rehearsals for the presentation “Inside Caesar,” are under way, with the performance to take place during the group’s May meeting.

Paula Diorio was recognized as the new Mother of Hope secretary.

Officials noted that Raha has resigned as treasurer of the club. She made the suggestion that Carrie Petrozzi serve as her replacement.

Petrozzi accepted the request, and will serve in the position of club treasurer.

Mazik reported on the Strawberry Festival, which will take place at the large shelter house in Aracoma Park. The event has been reserved for June 22. Mazik requested anyone who has ideas for the festival should contact her.

The DCCW Convention will be held on June 4 at Holy Family Church.

The deanery will be responsible for the drawing baskets, each worth approximately $100. Clendenen volunteered to take care of the basket from St. Agnes.

Dunfee announced a day trip to Canton to visit sites connected with mystic Rhoda Wise, whose cause for canonization is being promoted, and Mother Angelica, is planned for June 11.

Mass will take place at 7 a.m. The bus will leave at 7:30 a.m., arriving in Canton around 9:30 a.m., Dunfee said.

Lunch will be provided.

Attendees will return to Mingo at approximately 7:30 p.m., Dunfee added.

The club’s next meeting will be held on April 29.

The door prize, donated by Theresa Kontra, was won by Fabbro. The 50/50 drawing was won by Giuliani.

The meeting ended with a closing prayer and blessing by Dunfee.
