Toronto Sunrise Seniors enjoy pizza party, games
TORONTO — The Toronto Sunrise Seniors met at Karaffa Recreation Center Feb. 28, where President Barbara Pritts welcomed those in attendance.
Pritts provided the blessing for the pizza party celebration, for which the kitchen committee was thanked with a round of applause. The committee consisted of members Lynn Miller, Marsha McConnell, Bob Deku and Mary Lou Deku.
Following the meal, members recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Karen Martin conducted the roll call of officers and read the minutes of the Feb. 14 meeting, which were approved, as corrected.
Martin gave the financial report in the absence of the treasurer. The report will be filed for audit. Social secretary Mary Ann Landerfield announced those who were celebrating a February birthday.
Martin conducted the health report for the group. Who extended their sympathy to Mary Lou Deku on the death of her brother. She announced those who will be serving on the kitchen committee for March, including Betty Mossor, Rex Mossor, Marlene Garrett and Frank Marino.
Vice President Sandi Radvansky shared information regarding a trip to Midland where the group will visit the Lincoln School of Performing Arts. Attendees will see “Sister Act,” on June 29.
The bus trip will include dinner at the Golden Corral restaurant in Robinson Town Center. The cost is $50 for members and $60 for non-members. Contact Radvansky for information at (724) 317-9088.
Laura Sheets was recognized as being the member of the month. She was presented with a Reisbeck’s gift certificate. The evening’s activity was entitled “Fowl Ball.” Three teams competed by locating 12 hidden items in a silly picture of chickens playing baseball. The team of Dave Trudick, Martin and Sheets was the winners and presented with three free rounds of bingo. The winners of the 50/50 drawing were Ethyl Stevens and Mary Murphy.
Pritts concluded the meeting with a joke. She asked everyone to wear green or orange to the next meeting in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. That meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at the Karaffa complex. Anyone who is an Ohio resident and 55 years of age or older, is welcome to attend.
Following adjournment, members enjoyed playing bingo, with the winners being Donna Farmer, Bob Deku, Phyllis Smith, Jackie Porter, Miller, Marino, Hank Sheets, Bea Lytle, Mary Ann Cordier, Betty Mossor and Paul Sherwood.
