Top Harrison Central spellers

Lucas Wood, a sixth-grader at Harrison Central Elementary School, placed first in the Harrison Hills City School District Spelling Bee held Jan. 28 at Harrison Central High School. Wood correctly spelled “cathedral,” a noun meaning a church that is the official seat of a diocesan bishop, to claim the win. Taking part in the awards ceremony were, from left, Wood; Wyatt Zeroski, a sixth-grader at Harrison Central Elementary School, second; Jaden Nice, a seventh-grader at Harrison Central Junior High School, third; Keenan Gotschall, a fifth-grader at Harrison Central Elementary School, fourth; Jett Triplett, a sixth-grader at Harrison Central Elementary School, fifth; and Karlee Chittenden, a sixth-grader at Harrison Central Elementary School, alternate. The top five spellers and alternate will advance to the Jefferson-Harrison County Regional Spelling Bee, presented by the Herald-Star, at 11 a.m. March 8 at Buckeye North Elementary School in Brilliant.
