STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority met Oct. 1 at Malara Hall.

President Michele Fabbro welcomed members and introduced Chaplain Pam Fithin, who presented a poem and a prayer about October and fall.

Peggy Pyle introduced Linda Hilty, a volunteer at the Steubenville Historical Society, who presented the evening’s program. Hilty presented promotional items from many defunct Steubenville businesses.

Items which were displayed included calendars, fly swatters, ashtrays and books of S&H Green Stamps — all marked with various “local” trademarks.

Hilty informed membership that any of the presented items were obtained from the home of her mother.

The September minutes, along with the treasurer’s report, were read and approved.

Correspondence was read.

Members were reminded that October is Alpha Delta Kappa month. Those in attendance were encouraged to celebrate the day in any manner they deemed fit.

Money was collected for the Urban Mission. Kathy Henry collected volunteer hours from the members.

Members voted that a fundraiser will be held, selling $10 drawing tickets for a dinner with the owner and chef at Pastaio Restaurant in Wintersville.

Sharon Patterson was the winner of the evening’s 50/50 drawing.

Hostesses for the evening were Pam Fithen and Dorie Mallas.

The next meeting of the sorority will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at Malara Hall.

The program will feature activities available at the YMCA.
