STEUBENVILLE -- The Italian American Cultural Club held its annual Una Serata Italiana event Aug. 2.

Hundreds throughout the community gathered inside Froehlich's Classic Corner, which had been transformed into an Italian display, featuring four food and dessert stations, each representing an Italian city.

Guests visited Rome, Venice, Florence and Milan.

Club members dressed in garb according to the city each represented. The successful event was enjoyed by all who attended.

Michael Fiorante was the evening's lyrical Italian tenor who performed an array of Italian songs. The children who attend Campo Italiano sang and danced for the crowd.

Guests had the opportunity to win one of several prizes which were donated to the fundraiser and won through a silent auction, a Venetian auction or a 50/50 drawing.

Among the items won were baskets containing hair design products, gift cards, wines and get-away certificates for overnight stays at places such as Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort and Wheeling Island. Hand-crocheted Italian afghans and an afghan rack were also a unique and favorite prize.

Among the cuisine offered were calamari, risotto, Bellini, antipasta and tiramasu to celebrate Venice.

Rome served foods such as zucchini, wine spritz cookies and chicken Romano.

Tuscany featured pasta, porcine mushrooms and biscotti. While Milan served pork Milanese and polenta Gorgonzola.
