Lions announce pulled-pork fundraiser dates
NEW CUMBERLAND — Sally Greathouse, first vice president of the New Cumberland Lions Club, called the group’s monthly meeting to order. Rick Tinsky offered the evening’s prayer, followed by Joyce Young leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
Guest Shauna Andrews was introduced by Alan Lee. Communications were received regarding the upcoming Adopt-A-Highway campaign and the Multiple District Convention, to be held in Glade Springs. Secretary Jen Meeker stated the Adopt-A-Highway date has been changed. The event will be held April 20 rather than April 27 in order to ensure members have the opportunity to clean the highway, should it rain.
A thank-you card was received from the West Virginia Lions’ Youth Camps and Exchange for its recent donation to the camp. Second Vice President Jeanne Cox announced she is putting together the Flag Day event, to be celebrated April 19 at New Manchester Elementary School.
Officials stated the first pulled-pork fundraiser of the summer will take place May 25. The food will be served in the parking lot of the Swaney Memorial Library. Pork fundraisers also will be held June 29, July 27 and during the dates of RiverFest, Sept. 28-29.
The Memorial Day parade will take place May 27. Cox will chair the parade committee.
Greathouse asked members to remember the Good Zoo in Wheeling when spring cleaning. The zoo is in need of towels of any size, as long as they are free of holes. The Lion Minute provided an update on the time frame in which to move out of the city building.
The next meeting, which will include the election of officers, takes place Tuesday in Pittenger Hall at Christian Church of New Cumberland.
The meeting roster was re-read and then mailed to members.
