STEUBENVILLE -- Local humor and classical music are at the heart of Mystery Theater Unlimited's musical-comedy, murder-mystery production, "Overture for an Undertaker." The performance premiers at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Froehlich's Classic Corner.
Set in the Ohio Valley, the show features local references. Its premise surrounds a Capitol Theater stagehand who finds Beethoven's undiscovered 10th Symphony, leading to larceny, murder and twisted songs.
Mrs. Shepherd-Boggs-Zane, is played by Dustin Heavilin. The world-famous conductor, Leonard Beerstein, is played by Sean Decker. Mac McGuffin is played by Evan Oslund and Tammy Cash is portrayed by Renee Storm. Elliot Brick is played by Butch Maxwell.
Performances at the mystery theater take place in a dining room, with actors moving about and interacting with the audience -- giving them the opportunity to solve a murder mystery. Dinner is included. Audience members are encouraged to gather clues, talk to the characters and question survivors after the murder has occurred. Selected audience members will play small parts during the show.
