Teacher’s sorority hears about honeybees

STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority met March 5 at Malara Hall. President Linda Lenzi presided over the meeting. Following her welcoming members, Maureen Taggart introduced Toronto High School Principal Betsy Jones, the evening’s guest speaker.

Jones presented a program about raising honeybees and gathering honey. Each member in attendance was given a sample bottle.

Money was collected for the Ohio Valley Health Center. Secretary Joyce Cammilletti read thank-you notes from the Salvation Army and ALIVE Shelter. The minutes and treasurer’s report from the previous meeting were read and approved. Chaplain Pam Fithen read “Easter Prayer,” by Helen Steiner Rice.

A list of officers to be installed at the May meeting was presented. Each member was given literature about Iran for World Understanding. The members present voted on whether or not to sell corn at a stand in Wintersville in August as a Ways and Means project. The club will decide at its April meeting whether or not to sell mums, as well.

The “Paint and Sip” project has been put on hold until fall, officials noted. Updates were given on those members who have been unable to attend meetings due to sickness or difficulties. Cards will be prepared and sent. Cammilletti presented members with fill-in-the-blank sheets to complete for Fraternity Education. The sheets are entitled, “Eggs-actly.”

Hostesses for the evening were Sue Davidson and Taggart. The next meeting of the sorority will be April 2 at Malara Hall in Steubenville.
