TORONTO -- Members of the Toronto Sunrise Seniors met at Karaffa Recreation Center Jan. 26 for their monthly meeting.
President Barbara Pritts welcomed new member Sharon Mathieu to the club. She then provided the blessing prior to the club meal.
The kitchen committee, composed of Betty Mossor, Rex Mossor, Marlene Garrett, Frank Marino and Brenda Fetty, were thanked for their service.
Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Secretary Laura Sheets conducted the roll call of officers.
Sheets read the minutes from the previous meeting, which were approved as read by membership.
Garrett, who serves as social secretary, recognized individuals celebrating January birthdays.
She noted two members are being remembered under the health report, adding she will mail them a get-well card for their recoveries.
Garrett announced the February kitchen committee will be comprised of Mary Edwards, Bill Edwards, Bonnie Wilson, Bea Lytle and Paulette Reed.
Mary Ann Landerfield reminded those in attendance to make sure they vote in the March primary election.
She asked for support of the Prime Time senior services levy, saying, "It is important to remember that this is a 1.2-mill replacement levy. In other words, this is not a new levy. This is to continue the services that currently exist."
Prime Time currently provides meals, transportation and socialization opportunities for seniors throughout the county. She distributed signs which members could put in their windows or in their vehicle.
Lytle was recognized as member of the month and presented with a gift.
The evening's activity involved solving 10 Rebus word-picture puzzles. Mary and Bill Edwards, along with Karen Martin, were rewarded with a free bingo packet for solving the most pictures during the activity.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Joyce Gribben and Nancy Ramsey.
Bingo winners for the evening were Garrett, Pritts, Fetty, Don Pritts, Reed, Gribben, Bob Deku, B. Mossor, Lucy Timko and Mary Lou Emery.
Following announcements, brag time and a joke, the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Friday.
Any person living in Ohio and who is 55 or older is welcome to attend.
