WEIRTON -- Two local art groups have collaborated for the purpose of offering workshops for interested artists.
The Summit Gallery and Steubenville Art Association will present a workshop on alcohol ink from noon to 3 p.m. March 2 at the gallery, located at 3539 Main St. The artist will be Laura Scheetz of Follansbee, owner of Create and Craft.
The cost us $35, which includes all supplies provided. Checks should be mailed in time to arrive by the end of February in order to notify the speaker of the count, officials said. Payment can be mailed to: Steubenville Art Association, P.O. Box 1061, Steubenville, OH 43952.
Those interested in taking part in the March 20 pastel workshop with Pittsburgh artist Patricia Young, can mail their $40 fee to the same address in order for payment to arrive by March 16, officials said.
Another workshop planned with Pittsburgh encaustic artist Tony Landolina will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20 at Summit Gallery. This medium event features Landolina speaking on the topic of encaustic, or hot wax.
Due to the need to notify the speaker for the purchase of wood panels and other supplies needed for the class, the deadline to register is March 12. Space is limited.
The cost is $95 for those owning a hot-gun; otherwise, the cost is $125. Checks can be sent to: Program Chair Gina Judy, P.O. Box 416, Richmond, OH 43944. Those purchasing their own supplies can obtain information on the Summit Gallery calendar or contact Judy. Regardless, a payment of $45 must still be sent by March 12 to reserve a place in the class.
