Steubenville schools retirees to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville City Schools Retirees began the new year with lunch at the Ville.
The group's next luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ville.
Anyone who would like to attend and share stories can simply show up to the restaurant, officials said. Year-round reading program continues
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's year-round reading program for adults and youth, Read Through 52, continues with prize drawings for those who have kept a log of their reading. Dates are set for March 1, June 1, Sept. 1 and Dec. 1.

Library to show action film
FOLLANSBEE -- The Follansbee Library will show "River Wild," a PG-13-rated action film. The movie will be shown at noon Feb. 16. To reserve a seat for the free screening, call (304) 527-0860. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch. Popcorn and water will be served.
Resume and cover letter help offered
Brooke County Public Libraries in Wellsburg and Follansbee are offering free help in preparing resumes and cover letters to those who are job hunting.
The 20-minute sessions can be arranged by calling (304) 737-1551. Job hunters can e-mail their letters and resumes for proofreading to bcpl@wvlclib.
Preschool reading program
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library invites parents to enroll their pre-school age children in the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten reading program.
Parents will record the books they have read with their child for a chance to receive a ready-for-school bag when the time has come for them to enter that chapter in their lives.
Each child will be recognized on a wall at the library, with a sticker added each time he or she completes a level.
