WINTERSVILLE -- The Wintersville Woman's Club held its monthly meeting Dec. 21 at St. Florian Hall.
The women commemorated the holidays with a Christmas Celebration program, which included a visit from St. Nicholas himself.
Santa distributed gifts to the 19 members and one guest who were in attendance.
The meeting, which was presided over by President Iris Craig, featured a presentation by Natalie Doty, who read three original Christmas poems she wrote for the holidays.
In addition to three Christmas readings by membership chair Mary Beth Allan, a Christmas present drawing was held.
The meditation and reciting of grace were given by Treasurer Karen Hill.
The business portion of the meeting opened with members saying the Pledge of Allegiance and Club Collect, both led by Cheryl Taylor.
Roll call was taken by Michalene King, who posed the following question to those in attendance, "What is your favorite Christmas song?"
Members went around their tables responding to King's question. Following the discussion period, the minutes from November's meeting were approved as written.
Hill gave the treasurer's report, which included the estimated profits from Holiday Splendor and the balance in both accounts.
Corresponding Secretary Aimee Jaros reported she sent birthday cards to those celebrating in December.
Under committee reports, in the category of arts and culture, Judy Ostrowsky announced the club will be making Valentine decorations for nursing homes during this month's meeting on Jan. 18.
Ostrowsky said red pipe cleaners will be used, along with heart-shaped cookie cutters. Any member who has a heart-shaped cookie cutter was asked if they could bring it to the meeting.
Regarding environment, Hill reported the club is still in need of tennis shoes for its Buckeye tree project.
Allan reported on membership, introducing the club's newest member, Connie Cimaglia.
She reminded members to bring guests to future meetings.
Ostrowsky spoke about the nominating committee, saying these individuals will be contacting members and asking for their nominations of offices for the 2024-26 term.
Taylor reported on domestic violence. She explained she delivered to Martha Manor the toiletries which were donated by members during the November meeting.
Craig asked members if they had received the Buckeye Magazine through e-mail, adding that any member who has not received the magazine should notify her.
Craig closed the meeting by wishing everyone a blessed Christmas and New Year. The Jan. 18 meeting will include the program, "Get Crafty," which will be sponsored by the arts and culture committee
